Kate Marsh: artist in residence

Date: October 1, 2021 - October 6, 2021
Location: Poland

Europe Beyond Access’ partner British Council and Narodowy Instytut Muzyki i Tańca / National Institute of Music and Dance run a series of workshops with UK dance artist, choreographer and researcher Kate Marsh in Warsaw, from 1 to 3 October 2021 (see the video above).

During these three days, ten local disabled and non-disabled artists had the chance to explore with Kate one of her main areas of interest: how each of our lived experiences of our bodies does (or doesn’t) inform the artistic practice.

During her visit to Poland, Kate also took part in different engagement activities with Polish artists, choreographers and journalists. She also delivered a talk on 4 October on how to increase the number of disabled arts professionals as cultural leaders and decision-makers – and not just as participants.

In this Change Makers talk, run by British Council Poland and the The Zachęta National Gallery of Art, there was also time for presenting the preliminary findings of the Time to Act report – a major new study from On the Move into the barriers that disabled people experience when accessing the arts. It has been commissioned by the British Council through Europe Beyond Access.
