Oriente Occidente presents PRESENTI ACCESSIBILI

Europe Beyond Access partner Oriente Occidente is leading on PRESENTI ACCESSIBILI (ACCESSIBLE PRESENT), the first major all-Italy conference on arts and disability taking place from 27 to 29 April 2022.

The initiative – run in conjunction with the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Region of Lombardy as part of Europe Beyond Access – will include a wide range of performances, workshops, meetings and events.

Conference

The conference taking place on Friday 29 April will provide an opportunity for discussion and will be live streamed and translated into English for international audiences who register for a place via the online registration form.

The conference will be divided into three thematic sessions:

  • In Italy today: the performing arts and disabilities
    A reflection on the state of the performing arts and disability in Italy, including Al. Di. Qua. Artists’ demands and the views of representatives from Oriente Occidente, the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Region of Lombardy.
  • The Market
    Discussion between representatives from different European cultural institutions such as the Candoco Dance Company (United Kingdom), the Skånes Dansteater (Sweden) and the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza /ATER Balletto (Italy).
  • The Policies
    Discussion on the cultural policies governing the participation and leadership of disabled people in the European cultural sector. The session will include views from Ben Evans, Europe Beyond Access Project Director and Head of Arts and Disability at the British Council; Walter Zampieri, Head of Unit Culture – EACEA Agency, European Commission and a representative from the Italian Ministry of Culture.
