Europe Beyond Access presents Experimenting with Dance Dramaturgy

‘Dramaturgy is a concept which cannot be defined just in one way’

Led by choreographer Gaia Clotilde Chernetich and dramaturg Giuseppe Dagostino, the fourth Europe Beyond Access artist laboratory The dramaturgy of movement transitions brought dance practitioners from across Europe together for a week to focus on the dramaturgical process and explore the multiple approaches that artists can use to record, document and reflect on their own unique movement vocabularies.

The laboratory aimed not only to support self-observation, self-documentation and self-reflection, but also individual capacity to compose movement dramaturgies.

In this short film, four of the participating artists share their key takeaways from the laboratory: Aristide Rontini (Italy), Katarzyna Żeglicka (Poland), Giuseppe Dagostino (Italy) and Sofia Zagka (Greece).

The laboratory took place in Rovereto, Italy in September 2021 as part of the 41st edition of the Oriente Occidente Dance Festival.
