Richard Andersson
Richard Andersson (b. Oct. 1982) is a Copenhagen-based Danish/Faroese/Icelandic bassist and composer. Andersson is known as “one of the most interesting characters of the Danish jazz scene” according to Iver Rod of Gaffa Music Magazine.
Andersson grew up in a musical family, but did not show much interest in music until the age of 14 when a fireworks accident left him blind. Since then he has gained great recognition for his work as a composer and bass player in the modern jazz field. He has collaborated and recorded with both Danish and international musicians, including Hilmer Jensson (IS), Oskar Gudjonsson (IS), Jorge Rossy (ES), Per Møllehøj (DK), Jeff “Tain” Watts (US), Rudi Mahall (DE), Kasper Tranberg (DK), Jerry Bergonzi (US), Ra-Kalam Bob Moses (US), Tony Malaby (US), Bill McHenry (US), Tomas Franck (S), and Kresten Osgood (DK).
